Whenever I go backpacking, I heavily rely on the words of the tour guides I will be with and the drivers I encounter along the way. Obviously, they know their places more than I do kaya I give them my trust and thankfully, they’re returning a favor of not defrauding me.
Kuya Yoyoy is someone you can rely on when you go canyoneering in Badian, Cebu. He has been in that place for more than 20 years already, discovering it in as early as nine years old – which means that he’ll do no harm to his guest and rest assured that you will be guided safely since he knows the place more than any other in the area. In fact, he can traverse the river at night whenever he initiates his ‘ritual’ by seven in the evening. But don’t get me wrong! The ritual isn’t what you are thinking but his care for the nature. He would sometimes do a cleanup in the area to preserve this beauty he discovered more than 20 years ago. He cared for the place more than anybody else. More importantly, he deserves the credit!
He can make your adventure less extreme and more fun with his unending jokes and some pranks. He takes good shots with your friends that you’ll cherish and make fun after reviewing it. He knows where and when to take photos and what position you should create to make the adventure more memorable. You can just leave your cameras or phones with him and he’ll take care the rest of the documentation. But don’t you dare cry when he says your gadgets are not with him. It’s a prank and you’ll only laugh out loud. Obviously, the humor is overflowing; that makes the adventure, indeed, more fun.
Why am I doing this?
Well, he simply deserves it. It’s my way of helping someone who I believe is humble enough to ask for help in promoting his service. He finds it difficult to communicate with people because of his cleft palate and he admits that his lack of education is an hindrance for him to get more customers. In fact, we almost gave up communicating with him via sms. However, we chose not to because we already know his story through a Facebook post and we want to help in simplest way by getting him as our guide.
Truly, every centavo we paid was all worth it. And we know that his family will benefit from it. Buti na lang hindi kami sumuko makipagusap sa kanya because another story of perseverance full of hope will not be heard by us and by many.
I hope you consider him when you’re planning to have canyoneering in Cebu. Below are his details:
Kuya Yoyoy
Canyoneering Tours
09777753176
Rate: Php 1,000.00 per head
Inclusion: life vest and helmet, tour and environmental fees
Exclusion: shoe wear, lunch, dry bag.
While he deserves more guest and customers, you as a customer deserves a better service for a great experience. Kuya Yoyoy is the man, that’s for sure.
Note: You may also contact me via comment if you have questions about the tour. I will direct your inquiries to him. Thank you very much and I hope that you can also help him while having fun canyoneering. ;)

Hi Anthony, I am traveling to Cebu next week and I would want to do this Canyoneering activity. I don’t have a local number yet so do you know if there are another ways to contact this guide? Also, do you have suggestions on places to stay near Kawasan Falls? and does the guide pick us up for the activity? Appreciate your replies!

Hello Melissa! I assume youre not Filipino. I do not know how to contact him other than mobile. He has facebook page but i forgot the name.
There is an accommodation right in Kawasan Falls. But I think you have to book prior due to number of tourists visiting the place. You may search for it.
Also, there are guides who would offer to fetch you in cebu city via a van. This will incur added cost. What I can ultimately suggest is for you to contact a tour guide first because they will surely accommodate you with all your concerns such as accommodation, van transfer, etc. I hope I was able to help you. Im sure you’ll enjoy canyoneering and kawasan! 😄

I need your advice po kasi we will be travelling to cebu from manila on February 9 2017 ang ETA po naming sa Badian would be 11pm via bus from cebu city. Gusto po sana namin mag canyoneering on that day kasi sa Day 2 balak po naming mag whale watching sa oslob. Im not really sure kung ano po magandang itinerary kasi mag bobohol po kami sa Day 3 ng travel namin.
yung mga balak po naming agenda is Kawasan canyoneering, whale watching, Nuestra Senora de la Immaculada Concepcion and kwartel kakayanin po kaya yun? Dalawa lang po kami magttravel and im contacting kuya yoyoy narin po pero hindi pa sya sumasagot. tska if in casepo may idea po kaya kayo kung magkano rent ng aqua shoes and dry bag

Hi Nadine! Kaya naman. As far as I know, may canyoneering sa hapon but you better ask the guide para makabigay sila ng advice sayo. Kaya ng half day ang whale shark, kwartel and nuestra. Dnt need to wear aqua shoes. Even the guides wont recommend it kasi. I suggest just wear open or outdoor sandals para mas mafeel nyo yung tubig hehe.

Hi Kent. For your foot wear just use outdoor sandals. And better to wear light clothing kasi masarap ang tubig hehe. I prefer not wearing rash guard. ;) you may seek help of kuya yoyoy regarding that. Or i have tried searching for for accommodations online e. Just use the term hotel accommodation in kawasan.

Hi Ton!
My lola and my uncle’s family (1 senior, 1 couple, 2 teens and 1 child)will be visiting Cebu, next week na – Jan 2-5, prior their return sa states. As per my auntie, she thinks a city tour (at Cebu) would only make the kids bored, kaya i thought of Whaleshark watching and canyoneering – sabi nya my cousins love adventure and would prefer the latter. Nagtatagalog ba si Kuya Yoyoy? i would like to recommend him kasi instead of getting the package offered by a travel agency (11k/head all in kasama na ung bohol).
Appreciate your soooonest feedback. Happy Holidays!

Hi Jao, Oo nagtatagalog sya hahahaha. Ask him about your plans, for sure he’ll suggest something kasi may package din sya ng whale watching + canyoneering e. Tapos for sure si lola will not do canyoneering so he can accommodate her sa kawasan lang para dun na nya hintayin mga magcanyoneering.
Tapos you may want to check out my other post, para you have idea of how much time kelangan for the 2 activities. :)

Hi I am travelling solol on April this year and I’mwwondering what would be the best IT 2d1n? Cause after that I’m going to cross to Bohol. Which is nicer, oslob to kawasan or vice? I’m trying to save time and far by map route and my arrival time wc is 6 in the morning-Oslob is a great choice but then again I want to hear from someone who’ve been there. I want to explore oslob, moalboal, kawasan, simala, the Opeak.. even chasing falls if given. Lastly, I call kuya Nonoy also but he’s not picking up his phone. Do he has a Facebook page?
thank you in advance.

Hi! I advise you start with either kawasan or moalboal. Its ear from each other. Then stay overnight ka sa oslob so that you can be early the next day for whale watching. Then you can go sumilon and osmeña peak. Better to ask kuya yoyoy kasi he can guide you better. Baka may booking sya nung time na tumawag ka kaya di nya nasagot tawag mo. ;)

Hello Janice! After you arrived in Cebu, I suggest you go straight na to the Bus terminal going canyoneering. You may take 4am trip. If may earlier trip the better so you can rest agad sa bus. Then you can follow na the IT i have in my blogpost. We also went to places youd like to visit so we totally have the same IT.
Thank you by the way and enjoy your trip on June! 😀

By the way, if you look at the IT, we didnt visit Tumalog falls. Since you have 4 days in cebu, might as well spend a little time in Oslob. Like, after whale watching and sumilon island, visit nyo muna tumalog falls. Overnight ulit sa oslob. Then, the next day na kayo mag simala. Enjoy every places coz you have a lot of time. :)

Because of this post I was able to contact Kuya Yoyoy as well. And truly he is a great company for the tour. I was able to mention you during our canyoneering last March. and he was delighted to know that you keep on promoting his services.
This simple act of caring creates an endless ripple.
PS. I am currently working on my Canyoneering write ups. I will include you and use this post for the readers reference.
Thanks.
Hope we can bump into each other in one of your travels.
